I took a lampwork bead-making class yesterday and I’m hooked! It wasn’t easy, but it’s lots and lots of fun. The curriculum covered a lot of different kinds of beads. I approached the day, though, kind of the same way I approach my knitting… I wanted to get one kind of bead right before I tackled anything else. As such, I came home with only one kind of bead: spacer beads. There were just enough lampwork beads, when combined with the blue and crystal Swarovski beads, to make this necklace.
I’ve got rudimentary supplies at home to set up a studio in the garage, so it’s time to get cracking on cleaning out the garage! Doing some flameworking while the boys are both in school will be so much fun! I can’t remember the last time I was this excited about a project.
Mostly, I’m thankful for my J, who remembered that I had these supplies but no knowledge of how to use them. The class was my Christmas present from him. As one of my classmates yesterday said, J gave me “joy for Christmas.” So thankful for my treasure of a man!
